Foodbank Hunger Report 2018 Partner

AHG RL have supported Foodbank for many years by providing transport and short term refrigerated storage. Few would know that Scotts Refrigerated Freightways has been there from the very start, supporting Foodbank to provide over 710,000 people with food support each month.

Foodbank ‘recycles and recovers’ food that would otherwise go to waste, distributing through a number of charities including Red Cross, Salvation Army and a network of church groups as well as many other social service outlets, some 2,600 individual agencies nationwide. Along with AHG RL, many of our customers also provide support to Foodbank through donations of short dated stock all the way through to manufacturing and processing products specifically to support the provision of protein to people who otherwise would be struggling to put enough nutritional food on the family table.

Unfortunately, food insecurity is rapidly on the rise in Australia, with more than 4 million Australians experiencing some form of it in the last twelve months. 30% of these people reveal to be living on a low income or pension, being the main reason they’re unable to afford enough food for themselves and families. The Foodbank Hunger Report for 2018 reveals many more startling statistics like these, and by partnering with Foodbank, AHG RL intend to contribute to lowering these as much as possible along with many other national partners.

AHG Refrigerated Logistics announces National Partnership with Foodbank Australia

AHG Refrigerated Logistics is extremely pleased to announce our continued support as a National Partner with Foodbank which is our “charity of choice”.

In the last 12 months, over four million Australians have suffered some form of food insecurity. Simply put, this means almost 1 in 5 Australians were not able provide themselves and their families with enough food at some stage last year. Most people receiving support are employed and country Australians are more affected than those who live in cities. Foodbank provides food for more than 2,600 charities around Australia which work to feed the hungry, providing food relief to more than 710,000 Australians every month.

Foodbank is one of many organisations playing a major part in ensuring that food doesn’t go to waste and makes it to the tables of those who need it the most and pretty much, all of our major customers provide donations of short dated stock, rather than see it disposed into landfill.

Some customers go even further and one of those is Primo, which makes a sausage especially for Foodbank to ensure high quality protein is always available. Scott’s Refrigerated Freightways has been partnering with Primo to support Foodbank with transport and warehousing since the charity first started.

Foodbank is a non-profit organisation with a national presence and by continuing to support this worthwhile cause, AHG Refrigerated Logistics hopes to contribute in some meaningful way to help address this significant social issue of food insecurity.

AHG RL farewells the Summer of 2018

This Australian summer was the third-hottest on record as a whole across our Country. With this in mind, AHG RL would like to acknowledge the sheer effort and dedication displayed by everyone in our team. We’d like to thank the dedicated staff in our warehouses, depots, office facilities and our drivers along with our customers for their support and understanding.

This summer was extreme and gave rise to many challenges in maintaining temperature and product quality integrity. We feel that despite these obstacles, we delivered one of our most successful, peak period performances.

As we farewell Summer, we hope everyone stays safe and looks forward to Autumn and the upcoming build to Easter.
